Jeffrey B. Steinfeld

Mr. Steinfeld is an honors graduate of John Hopkins University and received his law degree from Boston University School of Law in 1985. He is admitted to the N.J. State and Federal District Courts, the Second, Third and Fourth Circuit Courts of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court. He was an Assistant Deputy Public Defender with the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender, Appellate Section, from 1985 to 1988, handling Criminal Appellate work in the Appellate Division, New Jersey Supreme Court, and Federal District Court. From 1988 through 1999, Mr Steinfeld practiced criminal defense and civil litigation with prominent firms and attorneys in Northern New Jersey.  Mr. Steinfeld joined the Rem Zeller Law Group as an Associate in October, 1994. In 2002, he was elevated to Partner. He left the firm in March of 2010 to establish his own law office, known as Jeffrey B. Steinfeld, P.C.

He is a member of the New JerseyState Bar Association, Bergen County Bar Association and Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, NJ and the American Immigration Lawyers Association; Coordinator and Leader, New York Lawyers Group, Amnesty International, 1986 to 1991; member, Legislative Coordinator, and Vice-Chair, Individual Rights Committee, New Jersey State Bar Association, 1993 to present;  member, Criminal Practice Committee, Bergen County Bar Association, 1993 to present; Chair, Juvenile Practice Committee, Bergen County Bar Association, 1998 to present; Chair, Juvenile Practice Committee, Bergen County Bar Association, 1998-present; Volunteer Attorney, ACLU-NJ, 1993 to present; Volunteer Attorney, Asylum Representation Project, Lawyers Committee for Human Rights, 1991 to present. Practice Areas: Criminal Defense in State and Federal Courts, on trial and appellate levels; Immigration Law, both employment and family based, administrate and practice on deportation and other matters in Federal Immigration Courts; Commercial Litigation, Foreclosure. Jeffrey B. Steinfeld is involved in all aspects of immigration law, both administrative (filing and employment based applications before the Immigration and Naturalization Service) and adversarial (political asylum applications, deportation and removal proceedings before Immigration Courts through the States of New Jersey and New York). Mr. Steinfeld also handles a wide variety of family based immigration applications. He also is extremely experienced in criminal appeals, both before the Board of Immigration Appeals and before the Federal Courts in three different Circuits.
